AWI Membership

Membership of the Australian Watercolour Institute is by invitation.

The pre requisite for selection is to be hung in our annual exhibition.

There are two ways this can occur:

The first is to be invited as one of our guest artists,

The second is by having work selected as a non-member.

Exhibition details and entry forms for the annual exhibition are sent out in mid September of each year.

Non-members submit their work around the end of November. The AWI committee then selects

work from these entries for the exhibition.

Near the end of the exhibition an AWI General Meeting is held at the Gallery.

Nominations for membership are called for, all guest artists and non-members who have been hung

are eligible. Members then carefully reviewed the work of each artist nomination and then vote by secret ballot.

All non-members and guest artists who receive over half the number of votes from those AWI members

attending the Annual General Meeting are invited to join the AWI.

This process of becoming a member is designed to maintain

the perceived highest possible standard.
